DATACASINO                  2018

After the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal in 2018 a group
of people started deleting their Facebook accounts because Facebook knows too much. On the other hand a lot of people don’t care or even know what is happening with their personal data. I don’t necessarily think we should all delete our Facebook accounts, but I do think that the governments should protect their citizens from this new form of power; owning data. But before we can get to a new system there should be more awareness about what is going on and what the consequences can be. That’s why I created The Datacasino. In the form of a physical slot machine I’m creating a playful way of getting into the subject and open a discussion about it. In this scenario data is currency and you can play with it, sell it to certain companies or keep it. What would you do?
